Looking for a dish that will brighten your table? This Sri Lankan classic, Kaha Bath, is the perfect way to bring color and aroma to your next meal. Using our Yellow Rice Mix, you can create golden, fragrant rice that’s traditionally reserved for celebrations — but easy enough to enjoy any day.

Ingredients:

  • 500g parboiled rice or basmati, washed and drained

  • 1 cup thick coconut milk

  • 2 cups thin coconut milk

  • 2 cups water

  • 4 garlic pods, chopped

  • 1 large onion, sliced

  • 2 tbsp cow ghee

  • 1 tbsp Yellow Rice Mix

  • Salt, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Heat ghee in a pan and fry the onions until golden brown. Set aside half for garnish.

  2. Add garlic and rice to the pan. Stir until the rice turns translucent.

  3. Mix in half the fried onions and the Yellow Rice Mix, then transfer to a rice cooker.

  4. Add water, coconut milk, and salt. Cook until fluffy and aromatic.

  5. Garnish with the remaining fried onions, roasted cashews, and boiled eggs (optional).

Serving Idea

Pair this festive rice with meat curries, curry leaf sambol, devilled potatoes, brinjal moju, or even a refreshing pineapple salad.
